AJ Troxell, Web Developer.Growing up I wanted to be a stand-up comedian, much to my parents disgust. Either that or study insects. But after my mom found I had trapped and was keeping a black widow alive in a jar under my bed I decided that it was probably not in my best interest and perhaps I had a lapse in judgment. Yet once again this lapse came around when I found it a good idea to disassemble my dads prized computer while he was away. Luckily my determination to reassemble it paid off. It was the official start date of what would become a life-long obsession with technology and eventually Web Development.

When AOL was in its most successful years and I spent nights sneaking into the computer room to get online. I came across a little application named “Magic Toolz” which fed my humorous, slightly devious side. It allowed me to flood chat rooms, create ASCII images, trick people into shutting down their computer, and a slew of other automated tasks perfect for a comedic preteen.

One fateful day I found a built in HTML editor within Magic Toolz, and so it began. My days of mischief were over (that’s a lie), and my days of obsessing over Web Design and Development began. Beginning with a combination of Paint Shop Pro, Paint, and any other free software I could find, I began learning HTML and the basics of image manipulation.

From there it was a downward spiral into a world and wealth of knowledge, learning, continued obsession, progressive enhancement, Git, Gulp, CSS3, HTML5, jQuery, and so on. A world that to this day continues to inspire and leave me yearning for more.
